It was just the sort of weather for stripping off - but visitors and shoppers were greeted with more bare flesh than they might have expected.

The Canterbury Naked Bike Ride rode into town on Sunday to spread its anti-air pollution message.

It is part of a worldwide protest by cyclists - also highlighting the vulnerability of riders. But it has attracted criticism in the past in Canterbury from those offended by the nude spectacle.

At the weekend, almost 20 riders, mostly completely starkers men, got on their bikes for the demonstration which was organised by campaigner Barry Freeman.

They assembled in the city council car park in Miltary Road before setting off around the city on their bikes carrying anti pollution messages.

At one point, they stopped and dismounted briefly by the river at the Westgate Towers, where visitors enjoying a scenic punt down the Stour saw sights they certainly weren't expecting.
