PAUL MILLMAN: getting ready to welcome international teams to Canterbury as well as county champions Sussex

KENT supporters can look forward to seeing the county face three international teams next summer with the visit of New Zealand, West Indies and a Sri Lanka A side.

A four-day game against New Zealand will take place at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, from Thursday, May 13. A one-day match with Sri Lanka A will also be held there on Wednesday, July 14

There will be a mouth-watering one-day match on Monday, June 21 against West Indies at a venue to be confirmed.

County champions Sussex provide the opposition for Canterbury Week, from Tuesday, August 3, while Lancashire travel to Tunbridge Wells for the festival which starts on Wednesday, June 2.

The fixtures list, just revealed, is only provisional at this stage. A number of away venues are still to be finalised and the club is in discussions with Bromley and Maidstone councils about the format of the festivals in their areas.

Kent chief executive Paul Millman said that although there was still work to do before the schedule was complete they wanted members and supporters to get a flavour of next season's cricket as soon as possible.

He said: “This list is a very exciting one. We entertain three international teams in the county next year - New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka A.

“We have three Twenty/20 matches at home, two floodlit matches at Canterbury and we entertain county champions Sussex at the St Lawrence Ground for Canterbury Week.

“Lancashire are the visitors to Tunbridge Wells in early June. We hope to finalise details of our festivals at Maidstone and Beckenham in the next few weeks and complete what promises to be a very exciting programme for 2004.”
