BLOW: Dave Mathews has an ankle injury

Surbiton 1 Canterbury 0

CANTERBURY'S men's hockey team again suffered last gasp heartbreak as John Grice's last-minute winner gave Surbiton a 1-0 win.

The result capped a bad few days for Canterbury who face being without striker Dave Mathews until the New Year after he damaged ankle ligaments in a training accident.

Canterbury have a big game on Sunday when they entertain Guildford, the only team below them in the Premier Division.

The two teams met in the cup a fortnight ago with Mathews on target three times in a 6-2 success.
