Motorists warned to expect delays

Drivers have been told to expect delays on the A2 while essential roadworks take place.

Traffic heading coastbound is being advised to avoid the stretch of road at Bean, where just one lane is open because the Highways Agency is carrying out safety work.

Agency staff have set electronic message signs around the road network to warn drivers of the lane closures, and are advising drivers heading for the south coast to use the M20 instead.

All lanes are expected to be open by this evening.
