Norfolk pervert purchased Thor fancy dress costume to rape boy in Dartford after arranging to meet at Costa Coffee

A pervert who thought he was arranging to meet a young boy to rape him, came armed with a Thor costume he'd bought on Amazon because he'd been told it was the boy's favourite Marvel character.

Anthony Finnis, 36, drove from his home in Norfolk to a coffee shop in Dartford to meet what he thought was the boy's dad and the youngster, but it turned out to be an undercover police officer instead.

He had arranged through a social media app to meet the boy with his dad after school to abuse him and turned up at Costa Coffee at Prospect Place in Dartford to meet the pair.

Finnis, of Briton Way, Wymondham, Norfolk, who also came armed with a portable massage table and massage oils, thought he was meeting a 12-year-old boy after he'd been communicating with an undercover officer pretending to be the boy's father on Wickr app.

The Wickr instant messaging app allows users to exchange end-to-end encrypted and content-expiring messages, including photos, videos, and file attachments.

Before the meeting was arranged, Finnis had been talking to who he thought was the boy's father and had even sent indecent images to him of other children on more than one occasion.

He was arrested on Friday, September 30 after he'd arrived in Dartford and was later charged with three offences.

Finnis appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on October 3 and admitted one count of distributing indecent images, which included Category A images between September 3 and September 12.

He pleaded guilty to one count of distributing indecent images, which included Category B images between September 2 and September 13.

Finnis also admitted he had intentionally arranged or facilitated an act which he intended to do in Dartford, which would involve the commission of an offence of rape of a child under 13.

He was remanded in custody and the case against him was sent to Maidstone Crown Court to be dealt with.

Finnis will be sentenced there on a date to be fixed.
