Charlton have rewarded reserve team manager Mark Kinsella with a new, one-year contract following an outstanding season.

The former Republic of Ireland international midfielder, who made 226 appearances for the Addicks, confirmed the news from Zurich where he is co-commentating on Euro 2008 for Ireland television station RTL.

He said: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal as Charlton is a club that’s very important to me, first as a player, now as a coach.

“I’ve enjoyed my first full year as a coach and though we were unlucky not to win the Pontins League, my main job is to help youngsters progress from the reserves to the first team.

“Helping those youngsters progress has proved very satisfying.”

Charlton appointed Kinsella to their coaching team early in December, 2006.

He is the only player in the club's history to lift two major trophies. First the 1998 Division 1 play-off trophy followed by the Division 1 Championship trophy in 2000.
