Charity ride will raise cash for Breast Cancer Now

The Crispin Inn in Sandwich and the Grove Ferry near Canterbury are just two of the pubs earmarked for pit stops in a fun bike ride from Deal to Herne Bay next Sunday.

The fundraiser is a collaboration between Breast Cancer Now’s Kerry Rubins and Jonathan Bowles of dining club Run Ashore.

They have set up a Facebook page ‘In the pink fun bike ride’ for those interested in taking part.

Miss Rubins said: “On the page you can download the route map and see which pubs we plan to visit.”

“If people cannot make the whole way that’s fine," Kerry Rubins, joint organiser

There will be a total of four pub stops along the way. Cyclists can turn around at any point or those who only want to ride one way can use public transport to get home. The half-way point is very close to Herne Bay railway station.

She said: “If people cannot make the whole way that’s fine. They just need to inform me so I don’t think we’ve lost anyone.”

Miss Rubins has reminded people to bring puncture repair kits and also plenty of water and snacks as each cyclist will be responsible for themselves.

She said: “We’re hoping it’s good weather but even if it’s not, please still turn up because we’ll still have fun.”

The fun bike ride starts at 9am at Deal Pier next Sunday, September 27. Entry costs £10. To take part and to collect a sponsor form, call Kerry on 07708 913976.
