Manager Martin Hayes has warned his out of contract players that he needs to know "within the next few days" whether they want to play for Dover Athletic next season.

Five members of this season’s squad have now signed new deals, Harry Baker, Barry Cogan, Sam Cutler, Lee Hook and Donovan Simmonds, while Adam Birchall, Luke l’Anson and Tom Wynter were already contracted for next season.

But goalkeeper Ross Flitney, defensive trio Matt Fish, Rob Gillman and Olly Schulz, and midfielder Jon Wallis have yet to accept new contracts.

And Hayes (pictured) made it clear that time was running out.

He said: "I need to know their decisions within the next few days. Maybe certain players are hanging out for an increase in their wages or because they feel the grass may be greener elsewhere.

"Perhaps they are putting a higher value on themselves than we are offering but they didn’t achieve anything this season.

"We just missed out on the play-offs but is finishing seventh a good enough reason to expect a pay rise when people around the country are suffering job losses?"

"The money just isn’t there for us to offer them any more and I’ve got people coming out of Conference clubs interested in joining us."
