Two people who died in a Dover house fire have been identified as a mother and son.

Agra Krauklite and Edgar Krauklitis who had lived in the town for around 10 years lost their lives in the Primrose Road blaze last Thursday.

Mr Kraukilitis, 32, died at the scene while his 64-year-old mother was taken to Kings College Hospital in London but she was unable to be saved.

Their son and brother Raimonds Krauklitis had raised concern for the pair after noticing they had not been active on Facebook since July 22.

The coroner's office has since confirmed that their deaths have been referred to them but no openings have taken place.

Mr Krauklitis, who lives in Latvia, told KentOnline: "I had always hoped that they wouldn't be dead. They were simply part of the family.

"Earlier in 2013, our older brother died and a couple of months later, our father. So only me, brother and mum remained until this event, but now they have perished."

He said they worked in the sphere of production but his mother was not working in England due to a hand injury.

Four fire engines were sent to the scene, as well as a height vehicle, and crews wearing breathing apparatus at around 10.45pm last Thursday.

Crews left the scene at 1.20am the following day but representatives returned during daylight hours to carry out investigative work.

The property was also sealed off with police tape.

A spokesman fro Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "The exact cause is not yet known, but is believed to have started accidentally in the area of the bedroom."
