Ebbsfleet midfielder Andy Drury heads list of players racing to be fit for vital fixtures in National League South

Ebbsfleet boss Daryl McMahon faces a mini injury crisis ahead of two crucial home games in four days.

The Fleet will look for maximum National League South points when they host Weston on Saturday (3pm) and Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

McMahon is still waiting to hear news of Andy Drury’s ankle injury while Anthony Cook (illness), Jack Connors (hamstring) and Dave Winfield (calf) all missed training this week.

But Drury is McMahon’s biggest concern. The 33-year-old has only lost once since returning to the Fleet from Eastleigh in December.

“Andy is a major doubt and hasn’t trained this week,” said McMahon.

“He has been outstanding for us, anyone who has watched us play lately will tell you that."

Drury was injured when he collided with his own team-mate, Cook, in last weekend’s 3-0 win at St Albans.

Left-back Connors is also a major doubt while Winfield, injured in the previous home game against East Thurrock, is again expected to miss out.

The worry over Drury’s potential absence is eased by the return of midfielder Dean Rance from a two-match ban against Weston. Reiss Greenidge is also set to be involved after his loan at Hemel Hempstead ended.

As for the prospect of taking on Weston and Bishop’s Stortford in quick succession, McMahon has warned those expecting two simple wins. Weston gave leaders Maidenhead a tough game last week and McMahon was impressed when he watched the DVD.

He said: “I watched highlights of the Weston game last week and they played well, especially in the first half.

“We know it will be a difficult game. People are fighting for their lives down there and it will be the same on Tuesday against Bishop’s Stortford."
