Man's body discovered in canal

THE body of a middle-aged man was found in a canal in Kent at the weekend.

The discovery was made by fishermen at the Twiss Road bridge of Hythe's Royal Military Canal at around 9am on Sunday.

Police say the body was that of a 54-year-old local man. Officers are trying to contact his family.

The death is not being treated as suspicious by police.
