DETECTIVES investigating an assault on a 14-year-old boy in a shopping centre have released an e-fit of a man being sought in connection with the incident.

The boy was waiting outside a cubicle when a male exposed himself to him in the toilets of the Pentagon Centre, Chatham.

The man is then said to have touched the boy’s leg and left the toilets. The boy alerted his parents and along with security staff, police conducted a search of the area. They were unable to locate the suspect.

Detectives launched a swift investigation, seized CCTV and broadcast a description of the suspect to all local patrols, including the Chatham Town Centre Team.

The suspect is described as being a white male, in his early sixties, between 5ft 5in and 5ft 6in tall, of large build with fluffy, messy white hair that had a slight ‘quiff’ at the front. He wore a grey fleece, which was unzipped, a blue or dark green shirt and blue or brown jeans.

Detective Constable Paula Patterson, investigating the matter, said: "We have made a number of enquiries and viewed hours of CCTV footage. Officers have sought potential witnesses and taken a thorough account of event from the boy involved.

"We have now been able to put together an e-fit of a man we would like to question in relation to the assault and I would like to ask people to study it and get in contact with us if they think they know who it may be.”
