Gillingham lost their final Combination League match 5-2 against Brentford.

The Gills found themselves 4-1 down by the break but things improved in the second-half.

Sam Fisher (pictured) scored for the Gills just before the break but they conceded a fifth before Charlie Stimson added a late consolation.

With senior players James Walker and Rashid Yussuff arriving for the match late, manager Mark Stimson was forced into naming an even more inexperienced squad than first envisaged. Both players were due to start but instead began the game from the bench.

Stimson was also unable to name Jacob Erskine in the team as the player was still registered to Croydon Athletic, where he had been on loan, and the Gills were unable to get that cancelled in time.

Stuart Lewis played the full 90 minutes for Gillingham while fellow senior pro Andy Pugh also started the game, before being replaced by Walker.

Gills: Hawkes, Benniman, Essam, Davies, James Brown, Fisher, Lewis, Alex Brown (Yussuff 55mins), Brunt, Stimson, Pugh (Walker 67mins).
