Investigations are still being carried out into the death of a woman near Rochester railway station.

Formal identification is not expected until next week but the victim is believed to be Jane Beal, 45, who lived in Rochester.

She was hit by a train travelling from Dover Priory to London Victoria on Wednesday afternoon.

Kent Air Ambulance and land paramedics were called out but she died at the scene.

Medway Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.

An inquest into the death is expected to be opened and adjourned next week.
