Andy Barcham's loan spell expires after Saturday’s match with Chester and he’s keen to stay at Gillingham a little longer.

The versatile front man has made six appearances so far and he’s thriving on being involved.

“I’m happy here at the moment,” he said. “The lads are really good. I like it and I’ve been made to feel really comfortable.

“I just want to play as much football as I can in my career so I’m happy with it but it’s one for the two clubs (Gillingham and Tottenham) to agree.”

Barcham replaced Simeon Jackson in attack in the 2-2 draw against Notts County on Tuesday night and he enjoyed the role.

He said: “It was one of my better games because of the contribution I made towards the goal and not just working hard for the team but in the attacking sense as well.

“I wanted to get on the ball and run at a few guys because I knew they were standing off me and they obviously didn’t like it. I wanted to cause some problems as I did for the second goal and I was delighted to create that.

“We’re very disappointed with the result but we played some really good football and it showed when we went 2-0 up, but we conceded far too early after scoring the second goal, which changed the moment and then it was hard to get it back.

“We got a point out of the game but we’re disappointed not to take all three.”

Gills manager Mark Stimson has already held tentative talks with the striker about extending the loan.

“Hopefully he’ll stay for another month,” said Stimson. “When he came here I said he would be a ball of energy and he would try and try and I think he’s proved that in every game he’s played in, whatever position.

“On Tuesday he caught the eye because of the forward runs he was making and getting beyond people. On Saturday he gave a real good strong team performance.”
