Chelsea v Charlton Athletic

CHARLTON supporters have snapped up their full allocation of tickets for Wednesday's Carling Cup, third round, tie at Chelsea in the hope of seeing the side derail Jose Mourinho's ambition of a clean-sweep of all major honours this season.

Manager Alan Curbishley, whose side are second to Chelsea in the Premiership, said: "I am delighted that our fans are going to Stamford Bridge in such great numbers. I'm hoping we can go there and put in a performance worthy of their support."

Midfielder Alexei Smertin, whom Chelsea loaned to Charlton for the season, cannot play against his club under the terms of the deal but England Under-21 international Jerome Thomas could return having missed Saturday's 2-1 win at Portsmouth with a shin injury sustained in training.
