Hampshire v Kent

KENT have named a 13-man squad for Wednesday’s Liverpool Victoria County Championship clash with Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.

Skipper Rob Key has named a big party in order to cover all eventualities and possible late withdrawals through injury should one of four bowlers fail a late fitness test.

Youngster Neil Dexter is rested after his early season exertions to make way for South African all-rounder Andrew Hall who comes in for his season’s championship debut.

Otherwise, the top six batting slots remain the same, allowing Key to perm two bowlers from a choice of four depending on who passes their late fitness tests.

With overseas all-rounders Kemp and Hall fit and available and Simon Cook back to near full match fitness, Key will select from either Min Patel or James Tredwell for his spin options and either Amjad Khan or Robbie Joseph for a pace option.

Shane Warne’s Hampshire, still smarting from a C&G Trophy defeat to Kent only nine days ago, look set to name Michael Carberry in their starting 11 to play against his former county.

Kent from: Fulton, Key, van Jaarsveld, Walker, Stevens, Kemp, Hall, O’Brien, Khan, Cook, Patel, Tredwell, Joseph.

* Mark Pennell's day one report will appear here at the close of play this evening.
