Let's stick together urges Fleet boss

Fleet boss Liam Daish wants to adopt a siege mentality

Kidderminster v Ebbsfleet

Liam Daish has called on his Ebbsfleet players to adopt a siege mentality ahead of Saturday’s Blue Square Premier trip to Kidderminster.

The Fleet will be without the suspended Darius Charles after his red card against Histon but manager Daish is looking for his players to stick together.

He said: “I’ve got to get on with it. I’ve told the lads to use it as a positive, we’ll get closer together and won’t ask for any help.

“I felt gutted for the players on Monday, they didn’t get the rub of the green and had a rough deal.

“We’ll get over it, we’ll bounce back. We can’t sit around and mope.”

The Fleet’s defensive options will be stretched to the full with Sacha Opinel also ruled out through injury but the excellent performance of Dean Pooley on Monday has given Daish confidence that his squad will be able to cope.

Daish added: “Darius was the best player on the pitch against Histon by a long chalk. He was head and shoulders above everyone.

“I asked him to play left-back and he got on with it but he is going to miss the game on Saturday now and he shouldn’t be missing.”

Defender James Smith is in line for his first start since the defeat at Wrexham last month while midfielder Danny Slatter could also return after he only made the substitutes’ bench in midweek.
