Stuart Lewis returned to the Gillingham team on Saturday and boss Mark Stimson was delighted with the youngster’s performance.

The 20-year-old had missed the last nine games but returned because of the absence of suspended pair Adam Miller and Mark Bentley.

Stimson said: “The people who travelled on Saturday saw the Stuart Lewis I know and I thought he was absolutely outstanding.

“He covered every blade of grass, he looked a player when he had the ball and he got himself a nice booking for rattling into someone as well.

“He’s a competitive midfield player, and if he carries on playing like that then he will be hard to keep out of the team. I thought his performance was very good.”
