Woman stole £35,000 worth of bargain clothes

A prolific shoplifter must pay back nearly £35,000 after stealing low-value clothing.

When police raided May Jones' home in Malling Road in Snodland they found hundreds of clothing and goods still in packaging.

Officers said it appeared the items had been shoplifted and in May 2009 Jones, now 64, was jailed for 23 weeks.

At Maidstone Crown Court a confiscation order was served and she was ordered to pay £34,921 within six months or face a year in jail.
