DIY at the double is good for your health

A NEW decorating solution for time pressured home movers is about to make life a whole lot easier. Speed DIYing will be the next big thing according to research from Swish 2.

Two out of three of us regularly carry out home improvements. Yet research has found that people would like more time to do other things.

This is especially true when it comes to selling a property, when the main consideration is to get the maximum appeal while keeping budgets and time to a minimum.

The result, according to Swish, is Speed DIY - a growing trend for products and projects which are quick and easy, but are also high quality.

In response, Swish has launched a free, cut-to-size, while-you-wait service for blinds in B & Q warehouses across the country. It will be great news for people who have just moved into a property and need window dressings for light control and privacy quickly and with no fuss.

Other Speed DIY products now available include one coat paint, paste the wall wallpaper and laminate flooring. Tracey Bamber Swish Vice President of Marketing Europe Explained: “TV programmes and magazines have raised people’s expectations when it comes to home decor and the recent flurry of programmes like Property Ladder and House Doctor means that many buyers are looking for the wow factor as well as any botched DIY projects.

This can cause a bit of a dilemma for vendors who can’t afford to get it wrong but also do not want to spend all their time on home improvement projects.” She added that the industry had been slow to respond to the need for fast yet high quality DIY, but products such as quick dry paint and cut to size blinds were the way forward.

According to psychologist Donna Dawson, Speed DIY’ing could also be good for our mental health and relationships, as it allows people to spend more time with their families.
