2 hurt in disturbance outside pub

DETECTIVES have appealed for information after two men were injured in an incident outside a public house.

It happened outside the Rose and Crown pub in Otford Lane, Halstead, Sevenoaks, at about 10pm on Sunday March 18.

A 19-year-old man from Orpington and a 23-year-old man from Halstead both suffered what police believe to be stab wounds. Both men were taken to hospital in Farnborough. Their injuries are not described as serious.

One of the men was discharged from hospital on Sunday night. The other was kept in hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.

A man, aged in his 50s, from the Orpington area, was arrested in the early hours of Monday in connection with the incident. He was later released on police bail while an investigation is carried out.

Det Insp Jon Clayden said: "We have spoken to a number of people and are following a number of lines of inquiry.

"In particular we would like to speak to a man, aged in his early 30s, known to have been present at the time the assault occurred.

"We believe the initial disturbance involved two people who had been in the pub and others joined them shortly afterwards. This was an isolated incident involving people who are known to each other."

Anyone with information can contact police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
