Rubbish fly-tipped on the move in Raspberry Hill Lane, near Iwade creates ‘accident waiting to happen’

Fly-tipped rubbish believed to have been dumped from a moving vehicle has been left strewn along a country lane.

A washing machine, bottles, white paint, a BBQ grill and household waste were left in Raspberry Hill Lane, Iwade, near Sittingbourne, in a “disgusting” case of fly-tipping.

Anna Vaughan, who spotted the litter, believes the tippers didn’t stop to get rid of the rubbish but instead “threw it out while they were driving”.

The 58-year-old says she saw the piles of rubbish around 2pm on Tuesday, November 28, while travelling back from Medway towards her home in Sheerness.

She said: “I cleared some of it off of the road as people always tend to speed down the Lower Road. It was an accident waiting to happen.

“It’s disgusting that people are making a few quid by making out like they’re proper rubbish removal firms when really they just sling it on the roads.

“It’s laziness as people can't be bothered to book an appointment at the tips. There’s no excuse for it.”

Swale council has been approached for comment.
