A woman has been charged after a man was stabbed at a house in Ashford.

Jelana Jurcenko, 28, of Cryol Road, Ashford, is accused of wounding 33-year-old Erik Urtans with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

She appeared before Canterbury magistrates yesterday and was remanded in custody.

Jurcenko will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, July 1.

Police were called to a semi-detached house in Cryol Road at around 8.50am last Thursday after a report a man had been stabbed.

Mr Urtans was airlifted to London's King's College Hospital with "major" injuries to his chest and abdomen.

He has now been released from hospital.
