Folkestone Running Club did the double in the third annual Rotary Folkestone Half-Marathon after wins in the men’s and women’s events.

Sam Rigby emerged a clear men's champion in a very creditable 1hr15min26sec, just outside the course record of 1:11.10 set by Michael Coleman last year and more than three minutes clear of Ashford and District Roadrunners duo Kevan James and Robert Carpenter.

Folkestone’s irrepressible South African Rona Loubser improved on her third-place finish last year with an excellent 1:24.38, ahead of Invicta East Kent veteran Sharon Hawkins and Veronique Bringlow of Sutton Runners.

Loubser's time also went close to the course record of 1:24:24, despite the hot conditions.

Hawkins secured the veteran ladies' prize and James the M40 category trophy. The M50 award went to James Godkin and M60 honours were claimed by Michael Conway of Invicta East Kent.

The W45 prize was taken by Janet Carter from Woodford Green.
