Youngsters raised more than £1,000 for charity and school equipment through a sponsored skip.

Pupils from Eastchurch Primary School raised £1,070 from the challenge set by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and were given certificates for their efforts by chairman of the Swale branch of the charity’s fund-raising committee Joyce Fuller.

Twenty-five per cent of money raised by the event at the school in Warden Road will be kept to buy equipment. The rest will be given to the BHF and used to fund research into heart disease.

Children who raised more than £50 in sponsorship were presented with a rucksack bearing the Jump Rope For Heart logo.

Mrs Fuller said: “I was very pleased and congratulated the children.”
