Man's terrifying ordeal at hands of racist gang

A 27-year-old man was lucky to escape serious injury when a gang of men attacked him in what police are treating as a racially motivated assault.

The victim, who is Afro-Caribbean, was driving his black Renault Clio in Redfern Avenue, Gillingham, when a group of between 10 and 20 white men surrounded the car.

Some of the men assaulted the man, kicked at his car and smashed the windows before running off. The victim suffered facial injuries.

Police are appealing for information about the attack, which took place just after midnight on Sunday, July 2.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact DC Stefanie Rawcliffe on 01634 236458, or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
