Three men charged with criminal damage after reports of attempted break-in at Rainham Recreation Ground

Three men have been charged after reports of an attempt to break into a park.

Police were called to Rainham Recreation Ground in Station Road, Rainham, at 11.19pm on Thursday, July 27.

A group of men in a vehicle were reportedly seen with bolt cutters trying to remove the padlock on the gate.

Police arrived and found a vehicle matching the description given.

The five men inside were arrested, with three of them later being charged with criminal damage.

They were Francis Cleary, 49, and Connie Delaney, 42, both of no fixed address, and Thomas McGinley, 20, Blackberry Lane, Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland.

They were each bailed and are due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 30.
