Man airlifted to hospital after three-vehicle crash on A28, Ashford Road

A man has been airlifted to a London hospital following a three-vehicle crash on a major route.

Police, fire and ambulance teams attended the A28, Ashford Road, near Chimington Green Road, where multiple people were given emergency medical treatment.

A police spokesperson said one man was airlifted from the scene to a London hospital for further treatment.

“Kent Police was called to assist following reports of a collision – involving three vehicles - on the A28, Ashford Road near the junction with Chilmington Green Road, Ashford at around 2.40pm on Wednesday 1 May 2024,” said the spokesperson.

“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service and a man was airlifted to a London hospital for medical treatment.”

The route was shut in both but reopened at around 10pm.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue previously told KentOnline: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 2.44pm on 1 May to assist Kent Police on the A28 in Great Chart, Ashford, following reports of a crash involving three vehicles.

“Four fire engines attended.”
