Robber leaps into car after bag snatch

A 74-year-old woman had a bag snatched from her hand as walked across a disused garage forecourt.

The victim turned to see the robber jump into a red F-reg VW Golf which had pulled up alongside on the A251 Faversham Road at Ashford.

The car sped off, ignored a red light and drove off in the direction of Boughton Aluph.

Police say the incident happened at about 9am on Saturday, October 21. The victim lives in the Ashford area.

The man who grabbed the bag is described as white, between 25-30 and of slim build. He was wearing a dark or navy coloured hooded top with the hood worn over his head.

Following investigations, police arrested a 28-year-old suspect from Swanley who has been bailed until November 11, pending further inquiries.
