Canterbury Hockey Club made the perfect start to the new season as their men’s and ladies teams both enjoyed Premier Division wins.

The men beat Brooklands MU 4-2 on home soil although they were made to work hard for the points.

Liam Foster and Kwan Browne (pictured) gave Canterbury a 2-0 lead before Samuel French and Nick Giles struck for Brooklands to restore parity.

However, the hosts netted twice in as many minutes through Devohn Teixeira and David Mathews and there was to be no Brooklands comeback this time.

In the Investece Women’s Hockey League, Mel Clewlow scored both Canterbury goals in a 2-1 win at Bowdon Hightown.

Clewlow opened the scoring after just two minutes and made it 2-0 on 45 minutes, before Sophie Crosley pulled a goal back for the home side.
