Girls in the lead in Fit Idol race

Come on your men! If week two of our Fit Idol competition is anything to go by, we could see our first female winner.

At the moment primary school teacher Fay Parks and finance manager Bridie Passmore are in first and second place.

Four men and four men are battling it out for the title this year – the men need to step up the pace if they are to get to the top of the leader board.

Our winner will get a year’s five star gym membership, worth £420, at Active Life sports centres at Kingsmead, Canterbury, Whitstable Swimming Pool and The Pier, Herne Bay.

They will also win six months’ personal training and a meal and a night for two at the Hotel Continental in Whitstable.

The runner up will receive six months’ Active Life gym membership.

Dominic Comins, of Active Life, said it had been an excellent start to Fit Idol 2008: “The ladies have made a statement of intent, it is up to the boys now to prove that they have what it takes to win,” he added.

See this week’s Kentish Gazette, out on Thursday, for a report on the contestants progress.
