Police called after three horses spotted running loose near Marsh Street, Dartford

Misty-eyed residents had to take a second glance outside their front windows after spotting three horses charging towards their homes.

They were spotted dashing across Joyce Green Lane, near the Bob Dunn Way dual carriageway, in Dartford this morning.

Officers were called to assist in rounding up the escapees shortly after 8am.

But despite managing to catch one of the smaller ponies, two others evaded arrest.

A spokesman for the force said: "Kent Police was called at 8.23am on Wednesday 30 September 2020 to a report three unaccompanied horses had been seen beside the road in Marsh Street, Dartford.

"Officers attended the scene, safely returned a horse to a field and notified its owner.

"At this stage, the other two horses have not been located however there have been no further reports of them being seen near the road."

It is now understood the horses have since been safely relocated by their owners nearby.
