Long queues built up at the tills as shoppers made the most of the last-minute discounts.
Then staff closed the doors for the last time.
As well as the usual items for sale, some of the store's fixtures and fittings, including the shelves, were on offer.
Now staff are spending a few days clearing up before searching for new jobs for 2009.
