£20,000 haul in boot fair raid

SUSPECTED counterfeit or stolen goods with an estimated street value of £20,000 were seized at a boot fair in Warden Bay, on the Isle of Sheppey, on Sunday.

Nine undercover officers, five from Swale Police and four from Trading Standards were amazed at the volume found. Items seized included computer games, compact discs, videos and DVDs.

A spokesman for Swale Police said: "It was a bigger success than we imagined. We did this because members of the public think the things they are buying are geniune, but they are counterfeit copies.

"We hope this will send the message out to other dealers of counterfeit goods. This will not be tolerated and we will continue to tour boot fairs."
