Delays on A2 between A2260 and A227 near Gravesend after air ambulance lands following crash

A person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

An air ambulance was called to the crash in Watling Street, A2 London-bound carriage between the A2260 in Northfleet and A227 near Pepper Hill in Gravesend.

Ambulances were called to Watling Street in Gravesend just after 5.30pm with the casualty being taken by road to Kings College Hospital assisted by the staff of the air ambulance.

Police also attended the scene after being called at 5.30pm.

The road was completely shut at around 6.20pm due to the incident, which happened on the coast-bound side of the busy road.

It led to delays of around five miles.

All lanes heading London-bound were opened just before 7pm with coastbound lanes reopening around 7.15pm.

However, delays of 30 minutes remain heading to the coast with traffic stretching back for around three miles back to junction 2 of the M25 in Darenth.
