Green success for Daewoo quartet

FOUR of Daewoo’s model range have secured podium positions in their respective categories in the Environmental Transport Association’s Car Buyers’ Guide 2002.

The Daewoo Leganza CDX 2.0-litre achieved first position in the executive/luxury car category, beating the Audi A6 and Volvo S80.

The Matiz SE, the best selling five-door city car, was awarded second position in its class.

The 1.6-litre Tacuma (SE and SX derivatives) achieved second position in the MPV category and the Daewoo Nubira 1.6SE estate was graded second place after the Mazda 626 in the Large Family Car category.

The models were put through a combination of tests, which include checks on emissions, fuel consumption, noise level, engine capacity and power to determine how environmentally friendly the cars are.

S.K. Kim, managing director of Daewoo Cars, said: “Daewoo is delighted to have been awarded four certificates in first and second positions for producing greener cars.”

Andrew Davis, ETA director, said: “Daewoo has done impressively in our 2002 Car Buyers’ Guide.”
