Kent skipper Rob Key will this week find out if he will be involved in the 2010 Indian Premier League.

Key, pictured, is one of eight Englishmen included on the list for an auction in Mumbai on Tuesday ahead of the tournament, which gets underway in March.

Up to 20 world stars from the auction shortlist of 66 will play for the IPL franchises during the six-week tournament.

If Key is selected and his franchise reaches the IPL Final on April 25 he could miss Kent’s LV County Championship opener against Nottinghamshire on April 15, the home clash against Yorkshire in the same competition on April 21 and the ECB 40 League match against Warwickshire on April 25.

This year teams can spend a maximum of £468,000 on players, with all players bought handed a 12-month contract valid to December 31 which covers a Champions League Twenty20 tournament later in the year, as well as the IPL.

Included in the auction with Key are England Test stars Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott and Monty Panesar as well as Tim Bresnan, Eoin Morgan, Anthony McGrath and Mark Ramprakash.

Former Kent players Wayne Parnell, Justin Kemp and Tyron Henderson are among the South African players included in the auction while Shahid Afridi of Pakistan - who also turned out at the St Lawrence Ground - will be considered.

Essex batsman Ryan ten Doeschate - who also turns out for Folkestone in the Kent League - represents the Netherlands on the list.
