Members of a Gillingham tap dancing group will be showing their steps at the launch of a national campaign.

Margella School of Dancing is one of four groups chosen to take part in Boogie for Your Bones, part of the Love Your Bones campaign organised by the National Osteoporosis Society.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood, health expert Miriam Stoppard and fitness guru Lizzie Webb are all involved with promoting the campaign.

They aim to show how dancing can be fantastic exercise to strengthen your bones.

Margella dancers were at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on Monday for the launch.

The school was selected after sending in an audition recording where they created their unique version of the Boogie for Your Bones dance as well as impressing the judges with their philosophy of dance.

A group spokesman said: “Tap is fantastic for keeping joints mobile and supple, especially the knees and ankles. We meet weekly in a church hall and despite our age - dancers are aged from 20 to 86 - we sometimes dance to some pretty funky music.”

Craig Revel Horwood said “Dance is one of the best forms of weight bearing exercise, it is invigorating, engaging and exciting and most importantly it appeals to everyone.
