A DISTRAUGHT mother has pleaded for information about a hit-and-run accident which has left her son fighting for his life.

Single parent Sue Uings, of Tatler Close, Lordswood, Chatham, spoke to the Medway Messenger about her son, Jean-Philippe, who is in an intensive care unit in King's College Hospital, London.

Ms Uings said: "My son has been left with terrible injuries and every day he is battling to stay alive. I am just astounded that someone could hurt my son so badly. Why did they pick my son?

"The person who did this must be a really bad person and I just cannot understand why they would not stop. They knew they had hit him."

Her son was hit by a light-coloured car travelling at high speed as he and two of his friends walked along Hempstead Road at about 8.45pm on Wednesday, November 13.

The car struck him from behind but the motorist just drove on.

Jean-Philippe suffered serious head injuries, a broken neck and a broken collarbone. His mother added: "He has had two operations on his brain so far and is still in a coma. I want to know what happened and only the driver can tell us that."
