Gary Mulligan is out of contract in the summer
Gary Mulligan is out of contract in the summer

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has challenged striker Gary Mulligan to show how much he wants to stay at the club.

The Irishman, who has made close to 100 appearances for the club is out of contract in the summer, but Stimson needs some convincing before offering a new deal.

Stimson said: "He hasn't performed as well as I would have liked him to and I think deep down as well as he would have liked to. We have an option on Gary and we'll be speaking to him after the season is finished.

"That's when that big word comes out again: honesty. What do you really want to do? How much do you want to play for this football club? We'll see what his answer is."
