DANNY JACKMAN: turned down the chance to stay at Priestfield

NORTHAMPTON Town have agreed terms with Gillingham’s out-of-contract defender Danny Jackman.

The Cobblers' manager Stuart Gray worked with Jackman as a youngster at Aston Villa and was quick to move for the left-back following a good end of season for Gillingham.

Jackman's contract with the Kent club is soon to expire and he will link up with the League 1 rivals on July 1 for the new season after rejecting the opportunity to stay at Priestfield.

He joined the Gills in July 2005 after leaving Stockport County and had made 77 appearances over the last two years. He was offered a new contract at the end of the season. The 24-year-old has agreed at two year deal with Northampton.
