Maidstone: Police helicopter and sniffer dogs in town centre near Maidstone East station, Tonbridge Road and Westree Road

A police helicopter and patrols with sniffer dogs were called to Maidstone town centre, as part of a search for a suspect in an alleged assault.

As many as 12 patrol cars were spotted in Tonbridge Road, while the aircraft was described as circling over both the town's train stations, and the Tovil area.

As well as aerial activity, there were also officers on the ground, using torches and sniffer dogs, in Westree Road from around 10.10pm.

It was part of a search for a man who had reportedly made off following reports of a disturbance at an address in Tonbridge Road.

Two people were reportedly assaulted.

Both the officers and helicopter left around 11.30pm, but the suspect has not been found.
