Westlands Primary School served students breakfast and newspapers ahead of their SATs exams

One school went the extra mile to prepare their pupils for their SATs.

Westlands primary served cereal, tea, orange juice, chocolate croissants and even newspapers to Year 6 youngsters when they turned up to its breakfast club during the week of the exams.

After eating, they were then split into two groups with the first group making their way to the exam rooms while the others worked on personal projects.

As well as giving them a taste of responsibility for their own learning and achievement, it aimed to relax the children during the stresses of their tests.

Marima, of Quartz Class, made a wall featuring art from many different genres; Jack, of Onyx Class, made his own money-bank while Italian student, Gaya, created Mount Etna in homage to the time it exploded while she was nearby.

Once the children had completed each of their tasks they then switched.

Teacher Rachel Moodie said: “Year 6 have done us very proud. Their maturity throughout their SATs and in being focused as they directed their own projects has been a complete success.”
