An 86-year-old woman was left shaken when a thief snatched her purse after she had just collected her pension.

She had left the post office in Church Road, Murston, when a man, believed to have come from the Swan Close direction, grabbed the purse, with £150, from her hand.

The suspect was seen running off out of Home View Terrace in the direction of the railway bridge.

He is white, aged about 20, of slight build with fair, shoulder length hair and was wearing a dark tracksuit with the hood up.

The theft happened on 12 September at around 9am but police have only just released details of the incident.
