Armed police officers swarmed on a country lane after they received reports of an armed man making threats.

The incident happened in Hamstreet Road, between Kingsnorth and the junction of Hornash Lane at about 11.30pm on Saturday.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the incident, in which no one was hurt.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “It was believed the man was suicidal and possibly armed. Armed response officers were deployed to the scene as a precaution."

She added that the arrested man was now awaiting assessment.
