Ashford Ladies come from behind to beat Old Wills

Ashford Ladies won 2-1 at Old Williamsonians in their second Kent Premier Division match of the season.

Keeper Cheryl Collier pulled off an excellent save to keep out a penalty flick but the home side were not to be denied the opening goal which came via a deflected shot.

Ashford stepped up their game and a cross by Karina Greensmith set up Kate Reed, who tucked away an equaliser before half-time.

In the second half, Ashford kept Old Wills at bay with some solid defending from Charlotte Jenner and Hayley Richards.

The winning goal came from a short corner involving Megan Thomas and Greensmith.

Ashford, who drew with Holcombe in their opening game, are second in the table behind Burnt Ash, winners of both their opening games.

On Saturday, Ashford entertain Old Bordenians.
