Firefighters called to blazing car on M20

More than 20 calls to emergency services were made for one car fire.

Motorists on the M20 alerted firefighters after they saw a blazing car on the London-bound carriageway between Junctions 10 and 11.

Firefighters believe the callers were passengers in passing cars or drivers pulling up on the hard shoulder to use their phones.

Firefighters were alerted at about 3.15pm on Saturday and two engines, one from Ashford and one from Folkestone, were called.

The car was severely damaged and the driver was unhurt and crews believe the blaze was caused by a fault in the car’s fuel line.
