One of Kent's top secondary schools has sent home students after a positive Covid-19 test.
As of yesterday, 25 Year 9 students from Highworth Grammar School in Ashford are studying from their homes.
After the Year 9 pupil was confirmed positive, the school issued an email yesterday addressed to parents and carers explaining the situation.
It reads: "We have been made aware of a member of our school community who has tested positive for COVID 19.
"We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.
"The small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days.
"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."
The letter goes on to give guidance on what to do if your child starts displaying coronavirus symptoms.
Head teacher Paul Danielsen told KentOnline: "We can confirm that a student is self-isolating following a positive test for Covid 19.
"The school followed Public Health England advice and close contacts of the student are also self-isolating.
"Students, staff and parents/carers have been informed and we will continue to follow any ongoing advice from Public Health England."
It is among a number of schools in the Ashford borough to send pupils home due to a Covid-19 case.
Last month alone, Repton Manor Primary School , Victoria Road Primary School and Wye School all sent a number of students home after a confirmed incidence.
The John Wallis Academy enforced mask wearing and sent home close contacts of a staff member who tested positive on September 15.
On Monday, Finberry Primary School told 29 pupils to quarantine at home for a period after one test came back as a confirmed case.
