Drivers are facing long delays and heavy congestion in Ashford town centre today due to the knock on effects of Operation Stack.
The Drovers roundabout, off Simone Weil Avenue, has reportedly been at a standstill, with one traveller claiming to have been stuck there for an hour.
Other roads in the town are also heavily congested, including Mace Lane and Hythe Road, and the roundabout at junciton 10 is also gridlocked.
Stagecoach bus company are reporting delays on all services, and Ashford Borough Council have warned residents that waste collections may be delayed.
A tweet to Hythe Road, Brabourne and Aldington residents from the council reads: "Owing to Op Stack, waste collection may be delayed, please leave your bins out & they will be collected when crews are able."
Today, Kent Police confirmed that Operation Stack will most likely remain in place into the weekend.
A 23-mile stretch of the coast-bound carriageway is shut - along with part of the London-bound side - to allow lorries to park.
The controversial measures were brought in again between junctions 8 and 11 yesterday - just two days after they were taken off.
Many residents and commuters have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Steve Hodges @SteveHodges394 posted: "I live in Ashford Kent - when is this farce with stack going to be resolved - loss of business, gridlock in town, miserable for all."
Steph Batchelor @stephybatchelor sent her tweet to Ashford MP Damian Green, and said: "Having spent this morning trying to get round Ashford, I'd suggest they've just moved the problem to us. Bored now."
Janine Waters @JaniniBeany added: "WHAT??? Junction 10 to 8 London bound closed for op stack too?! Ashford is royally screwed right now!! Gridlocked end to end."
